Tipton Pool Builders, serving Knoxville, Tennessee offer Memorial Day Pool party ideas

Everybody into the pool! That is likely what you will be hearing a lot this coming weekend, especially with Memorial Day being the unofficial start to summer! What will you do to ring in the summer season? Here are some tips from the swimming pool contractors from Tipton Pool Builders about how to have the best first party of the year!

  • Set the stage for your party from the beginning with the invitations you send out. You can either make your own on patriotic colored (think red, white and blue) construction paper and make a family project of it. Or if you’re really clever you can provide your guests one flipflop with the information printed on the sole with a marker. When they come to the party they get the second, matching flipflop!Luxury home swimming pool near the sea
  • Make sure everyone brings their swim suits and towels. You can have additional towels ready to go, but just in case ask them to bring one along — it will be great for relaxing poolside, as well.
  • Plan the menu and by all means, if someone asks if they can bring a treat, tell them yes! It will make it easier on you and offer more choices to your guests!
  • Make sure you have some music that sets the mood for your summer party.
  • If there are mosquitoes in your area of the country, stock up on citronella candles or set up screen houses so your guests can get away from them.
  • Have plenty of sunblock on hand and have your guests reapply often.
  • Use disposable plates, cups and plastic ware — unless you’re uncomfortable using that — but then make sure you have time and space to wash the dishes between courses. Keep in mind that your guests will probably want to nibble throughout the day so have snacks available.
  • Keep refrigerated foods cold and out of the sun. Cover the foods with mesh “tents” to keep the critters out.
  • Scatter umbrellas around the pool and outdoor living space so your guests can find their own shade and relax when they’re not in the pool.
  • Plan some fun games for those guests who like to be entertained. You can plan both in-pool and out of the pool activities.
  • Stock up on ice and provide beverages for your guests. You may want to limit the adult beverages because alcohol and swimming don’t mix.

The time is now to get your first party planned and let the summer fun begin!
