For many hot tub owners, winter is one of the most enjoyable seasons for using a hot tub.

Use hot tub year-round

There are some areas of concern with a hot tub and they include:hot tubs and spas

  1. The plumbing could freeze. Check with the pool tech to prevent damage to the structure from frozen plumbing. Many hot tubs have built in preventative on the panel thermostat. If you’re planning to enjoy the spa when the snow is falling, keep the thermostat set to keep the water warm all day.
  2. Not having the hot tub winterized means that you will need to not only maintain a steady temperature, but you will need to contract for hot tub service throughout the winter months.
  3. The colder it is outside, the longer it will take the hot tub to heat up to the temperature you want. This could add to your heating and utility bills.
  4. Use a thermal, insulated cover to help trap the heat from the water.
  5. Don’t forget to remove standing water or snow and ice build up from the cover.  The cover isn’t made to bear the weight of snow and ice to it’s best to keep up with cleaning it off as soon as you can.

If you know you won’t be using the hot tub in the off season, ask us to winterize it and help assure it makes it through the winter and is ready for your use the next swim season.

Many hot tub owners who use a hot tub year-round find the addition of a heated towel rack or warming unit makes getting out of the hot tub as enjoyable as the time spent in it.
